Website Submission Responses

8/21/2013

For those of you who have made attempts to contact me over the last few weeks and did not receive a reply, I'm sorry.  All website submissions are routed to an inbox that resides within Google Apps and, unbeknownst to me, Google recently changed their mail format to include "Tabs".  It is a neat concept that provides auto-sorting, but unfortunatley numerous submissions from the website were being routed to a tab that I did not know existed.  Thanks to a persistent customer that tracked me down through another forum, I was able to determine the problem and get those routed to the correct tab.  I will begin replying to all those "lost" submissions this evening.  If, by chance, you do not receive a reply to your submission over the next day or so please feel free to resubmit your request if you have questions or have interest in placing an order.  I apologize for the technical difficulties and thank you for your ongoing support.

I am opening up a new section of the website that will be dedicated to your photos, like the one included in this post from Mr. David Beechey of the UK.  Through the years customers have periodically sent photos of their Krypto-Lites or other Metalworks creations demonstrating how they wear, display, or use them.  I am often envious for two reasons... incredible photo skills and remarkable creativity.  I never cease to be amazed and I would like to start compiling these photos for all to enjoy. As someone who makes and creates, I cannot tell you how incredibly cool it is to be able to see my work through someone else's eyes.
The new section of the site is entitled NURVU (pronounced "In Your View") and can be accessed through the navigation menu at the top of any of the site pages.  If you have a photo or photos that you would like to share please send them to photos@krypto-lite.com  All photos will be credited with your name, general location, and  item description unless you prefer to have that info not included (it will be credited to "Anonymous").  Who knows, after we get a decent selection of pics maybe we can make a contest out of it with something cool for the winner :-)

Send those photos in and let's see whatcha got!

Krypto-Lite Frag

Just a quick update... I am pretty well caught up on orders and things are back to pre-move status.  The turnaround time on most orders has been running a more manageable 1-2 weeks.  This has also given me time to monkey with a few designs that have been living in my sketch book for the past several months.  One of those is the Krypto-Lite Frag.  It features both horizontal and vertical machined lines that intersect in over-sized 1/8" holes.  The piece in the photo is the first one that I completed and it is currently for sale in the "Now Available" section.  It is made of bronze and it has been heavily antiqued.  This process provides a bold contrast and the over-sized holes look especially nice when the piece is lit up.
It is a rainy Sunday here in Tennessee so after spending a little time with my family this morning I will be heading out to the shop to close out a few orders.  Anyway, I hope you enjoy your Sunday afternoon wherever you are.

Beads? Who wants some beads?  I have a variety of beads all turned from 3/8" stock that are available for immediate sale.  There's a little bit of everything except damascus in this group.  Some are etched, some are polished, and some are antiqued.  All come on a piece of randomly colored 550 paracord.  They can be used as a knife lanyard, key fob, zipper pulls, or anything else you might conjure up.  Cool little whizdangits that handcrafted and unique.  Simply select your preferred bead(s) and add it to your cart then proceed to the check out when you're done.  Domestic and international shipping options have been made available.  Thanks for looking!  Check 'em out HERE.

Let the games begin!

Well gadgeteers, it was a sometimes seemingly unsurrmountable task to get the move finished but at long last I am finally putting the finishing touches in place.  With the exception of a few small things like the anodizer and electrochem etch unit I have everything in place to resume production.  The remodeling of the old home and the DIY projects at the new home took a bit longer than expected.  No real problems, but I guess I just overestimated my handyman prowess.  During the course of the move I also wrecked my truck (my first wreck in more than 20 years, knock on wood).  The damage was minor but when you are hauling and moving things the truck is vital to the operation.  Tax time also came creeping up so I went ahead and took time to get all the necessary paperwork in order to keep the tax hounds at bay.  I also revamped the billing part of the website to make processing orders a little easier and make the tax processes a little more painless. Anyway, spring has sprung here in Tennessee and it is time to get back in the shop.  I know many of you have contacted me about custom metalwork and I have been unable to take your orders and your inquiries have often received slow responses.  I appreciate the patience that you have shown.  I am going to spend this week finishing up the small details in the shop and I am awaiting the arrival of some new tooling.  That being said, I will begin taking orders this Sunday (March 24th).  Let the games begin!

First off, I apologize for the delayed responses to everyone and lack of anything new in the available section.  I have been without an internet connection for the last two weeks (I didn't account for the installation delay at the new house).  Anyway, still no phone, but I have cable and internet :-)  The move is about 90% complete and I hope to have all the shop equipment in place and running within three weeks.  Progress is slower than I would like because I have a plethora of projects at the other house.  I gutted a bathroom over the weekend and have been working on bathtub plumbing all evening.  Since I now have internet access I will try to get a piece or two listed over the next few days.  Also, I will be catching up on email inquiries.  I'm hoping that it will be back to business as usual in the very near future.  Again, I truly appreciate the patience and support from all of you.

Home and Shop move in full swing!

Well, the home and shop move are finally underway.  This move has several DIY projects at the new home, including creation of a temporary shop space.  Once all that is done, I will have several DIY projects at the old home.  My apologies to all those that have requested custom orders.  I am not a fan of turning down work but I need to take care of a few things here on the home front.  I really appreciate the patience and support that everyone has shown.
As I mentioned in a previous post, while I am limited on my equipment access I am going to spend a little time to expand the sales section of the website.  That being said, I have settled on a sales format that utilizes direct payment through Paypal.  If you have a need to pay by another method you can let me know and we will work it out.  The first piece that I have listed is a nice Copper Perforated model that has a SWEET patina.  Direct purchase links are in the "Now Available" section for those of you who may be interested.

Stay tuned!  I will keep you posted as we move forward.

Hey guys!  I have added a link to subscribe to the blog via email (not RSS) in the navigation bar to the right. If my products interest you please take time to subscribe because as I begin to expand the e-commerce portion of the site over the next few months I will be providing notification via The Metalworks Minute Blog regarding items for sale.  Purchase Links directly back to the site will be included.  As some of you already know, I am moving home and shop in the coming weeks.  It is a daunting task that will certainly pose a variety of complications.  Once I get a few details finalized over the next few days I will post here to let everyone know about timelines, service interruptions, etc...

Welcome to the Metalworks Minute

Hello Gadgeteers!  I have slowly been growing the website and thank each of you for your ongoing support.  I have decided to create a blog to keep you apprised of upcoming events and available products.  It utilizes an RSS feed so if you would like to stay up to date with what's going on in my neck of the woods please feel free to subscribe.

The site has generated more traffic and a greater volume of work than I imagined and I felt like some of you might want to go along for the ride as things change and grow.  I appreciate each of you for the orders that you place and the kind and supportive words that many of you have offered.  While I thoroughly enjoy the work, I have found that the people are what it is all about.

Over the coming months I hope to get the e-commerce side of the site fully developed and began to offer a few pieces for direct purchase, as opposed to the 2-3 week wait on custom orders that many of you have patiently waited for.  I don't mass produce anything as I am a one man shop with occasional help from my dad or my son.  That being said, pieces will likely be one or two at a time and be sold on a first come, first serve basis.  Of course, you can still place an order if I don't have what you want as long as you are willing to give me a little turnaround time.

Anyway, welcome to the Metalworks Minute!  I am honored to have you join me.
